Global Prayer Altar (“we”, “us”, “the app”) is a Christian prayer platform: a continuous voice altar, a prayer wall, direct messages, testimonies, scripture reading, devotionals, and live-streamed services. This policy explains what we collect, why, who processes it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little as possible and never sell your data.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details— email address and display name (required to sign in). Optionally a profile photo, short bio, country, and phone number.
- Content you create— prayer requests, intercessions, testimonies, comments, direct messages (including voice notes and images you send), personal prayers, and feedback.
- Voice participation— when you join a voice altar room, your microphone audio is transmitted live to other participants. It is not recorded by default. If an admin starts a recording, a red banner with a running timer is shown to everyone in the room for as long as it lasts. A recording is saved to our storage, reviewed by an admin, and may then be published so members can listen back to it or download it. Recording stops when an admin stops it, or when the last person leaves the altar.
- Donations— giving is handled on our website by bank transfer or PayPal. The app simply opens that page; it does not take payments and we do not collect or store card details anywhere in the app.
Information collected automatically
- Usage & diagnostics— app events, feature usage, crash reports, and basic device information, via Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics, used to keep the app stable.
- Push token— a device notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can send the prayer reminders and alerts you have enabled.
- Approximate region— your country/timezone, used to schedule prayer watches and show the global prayer pulse. We do not collect precise GPS location.
2. How we use your information
- To provide the prayer altar, messaging, testimonies, scripture, and live streams.
- To send the notifications and reminders you opted into (you can turn these off any time).
- To keep the community safe — reviewing reported content and enforcing our guidelines.
- To diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and improve the app.
We do not use your data for advertising.
Automated checks on what you write
To keep the altar safe without a moderator reading every message, prayer requests and chat messages are checked automatically when you post them. The text you wrote is sent to Anthropic, an AI provider, which returns a judgement on whether it looks safe and (for prayer requests) suggests a category. Anything it is unsure about is held for a human moderator to review.
We want to be plain about this, because a prayer can be the most private thing a person writes. What you should know:
- Only the text is sent — not your name, email, or profile.
- Voice notes, photos, and voice-room audio are not sent for this check.
- Direct messages between two people are not sent for this check.
- Anthropic processes the text on our instructions only. Their commercial terms state plainly that “Anthropic may not train models on Customer Content from Services” — so what you write here is not used to train an AI.
Separately, when an admin asks for a summary of a sermon, that sermon’s transcript is sent to the same provider. Sermons are public teaching, not personal content.
3. Who processes your data
We share data only with the service providers needed to run the app. Each acts under its own privacy terms:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Supabase (EU — Ireland) | Account, profile, and all content storage; authentication; file storage. |
| LiveKit | Live voice transport for the altar rooms, and recording when an admin starts one. |
| Google Firebase | Push notifications, analytics, and crash reporting. |
| Anthropic | Automated safety checks on prayer requests and chat messages, and sermon summaries. |
| Resend | Sending the emails you have asked for — the weekly digest and notification emails. |
| YouTube (Google) | Embedded live-stream and sermon playback. |
We do not sell your personal data and we do notuse it for advertising. Beyond the providers named above — each of which processes data only to run the service, on our instructions — your prayer content is not shared with anyone.
4. Public & shared content
Content you post to community spaces — the prayer wall, testimonies, comments, and voice rooms — is visible to other members as part of the service. Direct messages are visible only to you and the person you message. You can post a prayer request anonymously, which hides your name.
5. Your choices & rights
- Access & edit — view and update your profile in the app at any time.
- Notifications — turn reminder types on or off in Settings → Notifications.
- Block — block any member; manage your list in Settings → Blocked accounts.
- Delete your account— Settings → Delete account permanently removes your account, profile, messages, and uploaded files. Prayers and testimonies you shared remain on the altar but are no longer linked to you. See our account deletion page.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (access, correction, portability, erasure, or to complain to a data authority). Contact us to exercise them.
6. Data retention
We keep your account data while your account is active. When you delete your account, personal data and uploaded files are removed promptly.
Two things outlive an individual account, and you should know which. Recordings of a voice altar session are a recording of the room, not of one person, so a published recording stays available to members after any single participant leaves or deletes their account. Prayers and testimonies you shared with the community also remain on the altar, but are no longer linked to your name. If you want a recording you took part in removed, contact us and we will take it down.
7. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children under that age.
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to stored data is restricted by row-level security so members can only reach their own private data.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app grows. We will revise the date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
